With the upgrading of the jack-up drilling rig Maersk Gallant, there are a multitude of companies, people and activities at Lindø near Odense these days.
You probably know the feeling of niggling on with a product at home in the workshop. Far away from where the product is actually to be used. You need all your insight and imagination to visualize the conditions that the product will be exposed to. It would have been nice if you along the way could just go out back and test the product in use. We also know this feeling. Our containers are built on land, but are used offshore.
Sometimes, however, we get close to where containers are used. With offices in Lindø Industrial Park in the former shipyard in Odense, we are placed in a maritime and offshore environment. Over the past year we have seen supply vessels and oil tankers and even an accommodation rig. But it is not until now with Maersk Gallant that we’ve got a drilling rig in the back yard.
… and a large crowd of people in the back yard
For 75 days, the Fayard shipyard will be working on checking and upgrading the jack-up drilling rig Maersk Gallant after which it will leave for work in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. 500 people in our area here are in one way or another involved in the work, including 300 people within Lindø. Among them both Fayard’s own people, but also numerous subcontractors will be coming and going. Additionally, there will be a multitude of new gizmos, installations, containers, structures, etc., which arrive here for rig installation.
An area of offices, workshops, storage spaces, and more, have already taken shape and all of them welcomed Maersk Gallant when it arrived last Friday. The next few months, Lindø will be a center for offshore activity in a way never seen before.
Visit us
We would like to invite you as a business connection or friend of Specialcontainer.dk to visit us at Lindø Industrial Park to have a look at the activity around the Maersk Gallant rig. Since the end of last year we have had an office at Lindø with Maritime Cluster Funen. Besides large companies such as Fayard, Vestas, Siemens, Bladt, the industrial park is actually home to more than 65 companies with offices and workshops.
For projects like this rig, where they work with Norwegian rules and Norsok standards, we naturally have offshore containers designed for that purpose. Currently we have in stock 10′ and 20′ HC offshore containers designed and painted entirely under Norsok requirements, and including lifting slings according to the requirements in Norsok. All of which can be delivered to you within a day or two.
But before you arrive, please call us first … when so much is going on out back, it may well be that it will be difficult to get a parking space out front.
